Commercial, Broadcast, and Multi-Platform Content Work. Founded by Executive Producer

Established over 23 years ago, Rocket films is a boutique production service company based in Cape Town and operating throughout Southern Africa. We offer focussed production support from the research to the bid and production and recon of high end TV commercials, documentaries and stills productions.

Peter Goldsmid has been producing independently since 1989, when he founded Southern Exposure. Since then, it’s done single dramas, long-form drama series and documentaries, all-in-all amounting to more than 90 hours of broadcast television.

• Screenwriting services: Peter’s script for the second episode of Looking into Darkness is currently a finalist in the 2025 Writers Guild of South Africa Muse Awards for Best Documentary Script. 3 nominations and 4 wins for previous scriptwriting including SAFTA Golden Horn and Vita Awards.
• Training: Led by Margaret Goldsmid, an NFVF-approved script editor, we developed an Advanced Scriptwriting and Script Editing Course for the NFVF, while Peter has taught documentary storytelling for SAE, the NFVF and AFDA.
• Research, imagination and harnessing emotion are the key to what we do. We do it with “passion, steadfastness, constant pursuit of excellence and going the extra-extra mile.” (as one SABC Commissioning Editor put it).
