Pierre’s early love for costume design led to completion of a Bachelor of Design degree at PACOFS – majoring in theatre costume design. Furthermore he studied couture design at The International Institute of design under the leadership of Professor Victoria Toma. Pierre’s early career started in the theatre. This led into the magical world of film where he was able to indulge in creating both creature and character. He has designed in many different mediums of the entertainment industry which include TV drama Series, Musicals, Opera, TV Movies, Commercials as well as Feature Films. He has an extensive portfolio expanding over 30 years.
Pierre has been nominated for Best Costume Design several times & he has shared the win in 2024
GULDBAGGE AWARD for HAMMARSKJOLD: FIGHT FOR PEACE.
He has been nominated for 4 SAFTA/GOLDEN HORN Awards, winning twice for WINNIE MANDELA and for 5 FINGERS FOR
MARSEILLES.
He has also been nominated for 3 AMAA Awards.
His portfolio includes the cult feature film GALLOWWALKERS directed by Andrew Goth, TSOTSI directed by Gavin Hood as well as SEW THE WINTER TO MY SKIN, KNUCKLE CITY, BLOOD PSALMS and THE QUEENSTOWN KINGS directed by Jahmil X.T. Qubeka.
